Lisa Norwood
Lisa Norwood has worked in various capacities at the University of Rochester for twenty-two years. She is responsible for overseeing the annual recruitment, retention and graduation of nearly 600 undergraduate engineering students. She is also the director of the Women in Engineering and Science (WISE) Program
Her work duties include serving as the faculty adviser for undecided engineerig students; promoting academic opportunities such as study abroad and internships to the University's engineering students; keeping abreast of faculty and departmental policies, and then interpreting these policies for students. Lisa has used her position to encourage undecided engineering students and to promote the importance of increasing the number of women and students of color studying science, engineering and technology.
Lisa is an active member of the Rochester Rotary Club and of the Rochester Section of the Society of Women Engineers, where she is a past-president. She is also a past 1st Vice-President of the Rochester Engineering Society.
Lisa is married to New York State Regent, Wade Norwood, and has two surviving children, Stephen Christopher (18) and Julia (9). She enjoys staying physically active by rowing on a crew team, running, bike riding, and cross-country skiing. She is a Creative Memories consultant to help support her passion for scrapbooking, which she fits in around reading, quilting and (sometimes) sleeping.
