Vision

Engineering education is fully accessible and attracts, develops and promotes the talent and success of all women.

Mission

WEPAN is the nation’s leading organization and catalyst for transforming culture in engineering education to promote the success of all women.

  • WEPAN mobilizes diverse, inclusive and collaborative stakeholders.
  • WEPAN fosters diversity in engineering graduates, our innovators of tomorrow.
  • WEPAN inspires a network of advocates to empower and advance the education of women pursuing engineering and related disciplines.
  • WEPAN translates research into practice and develops national models to attract and retain women in engineering.

Goals

Goal 1—WEPAN transforms culture in engineering education to promote the success of all women.

  • Objective 1.1—Provide targeted, research-based education for WEPAN members and stakeholders to facilitate the transformation of culture in engineering education.
  • Objective 1.2—Convene national leaders to facilitate the transformation of culture in engineering education.
  • Objective 1.3—Advocate stronger diversity evaluation standards for funding and accrediting organizations.
  • Objective 1.4—Provide recognition for transformation of culture in engineering education.

Goal 2—WEPAN strives to improve equity, access, and success in engineering for women from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.

  • Objective 2.1—Develop strategic alliances to advance participation in engineering by women from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.
  • Objective 2.2—Identify and disseminate best practices and research to advance and support women from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.
  • Objective 2.3—Proactively engage and recruit diverse members and leaders for WEPAN.

Goal 3—WEPAN leads the nation in providing information and research on women in engineering educational initiatives.

  • Objective 3.1—Connect, equip, and mobilize a proactive network of advocates to advance women in engineering education.
  • Objective 3.2—Respond to policy, legislation, and media that pertain to the advancement of WEPAN’s mission.

Goal 4—WEPAN is vital, responsive to stakeholders, strategic and fiscally sound.

  • Objective 4.1— Provide leadership development to a diverse board and committee chairs.
  • Objective 4.2— Ensure the work of WEPAN’s Board is guided by its strategic plan and aligned policies, processes and procedures.
  • Objective 4.3— Maintain a strategic and realistic budget and a strong fiscal and development strategy.
