Amy Freeman, Ph.D. 

Dr. Amy Freeman is currently the Chief Diversity Officer and Assistant Provost at Tufts University. She previously served as the Assistant Dean of Engineering Outreach and Inclusion at Pennsylvania State University for 13 years, overseeing the Multicultural Engineering Program and Women in Engineering Program, and leading partnerships with Career Resources and the Graduate School as well as faculty projects.

Previously, Dr. Freeman served as director of human and cultural diversity at Lock Haven University and worked seven years in construction management. She holds a master’s degree in architectural engineering and a doctorate in workforce education development from Penn State . 
This unusual combination has provided her with a professional skill set that combines the technical and the social sciences. She has been an advocate for STEM educational access and global collaboration for over two decades. In that time, she has developed a wide range of programming and success strategies designed to serve STEM students and has received two National Society of Black Engineers Golden Torch Awards. Dr. Freeman is a proponent of work-life balance, and is the author of Stress Less: 10 Balancing Insights on Work and Life.
